Okay so I've been horrible at updating my  blog. I'm not sure if any of my student's parents even read it but it will be fun to go back and look at it when these kiddos are older. So here's a few pics of us in the past few months. This has been a great year. I love all my students. They are all very smart and bring so much entertainment and joy to my life!

Here are a few pictures of my classroom. We love using technology in the room. The kids jump at a chance to be on a computer or use the promethium board. We also have started pairing up with 4th graders to read. They are our reading buddies. The kids love going to see their reading buddies! We usually do this on Friday afternoon. It's so sweet to see the older 4th graders being so kind and helpful to my 1st graders. I hope you enjoy seeing pictures of some great learning going on in Mrs. Craft's Fabulous First Grade Class!! Also, one piece of exciting news. A few weeks ago I wrote a proposal on www.donorschoose.org . It's an organization that is dedicated to helping teachers get things for their classroom that will benefit the students. I asked for two electronic readers. Yesterday, it got fully funded. So in 5 days, 10 people donated enough to pay for the 2 e-readers I requested. I'm so excited and can't wait to get them and start using them in my classroom. The kids are going to love them!!!

Welcome to Mrs.Craft's first grade blog. This blog will be mainly for parents to be able to see pictures of what their kids are doing in class. Your child's name will never be in a post but I will take pictures of the work we're doing in class and share them with you on this blog. I hope you were able to make Open House. If not, please be sure to read the WELCOME packet that your child brings home. Please email me with any questions. Parent/Teacher communication is a vital part of your child's success!!! I look forward to working together with each of you!

Only 5 weeks of summer left

I have created this blog to keep in close contact with my parents (and anyone else who wants to follow). If I have your child in my classroom, thank you for visiting my blog. I will try to keep this updated with information throughout the year. As of now, I'm starting to get used to the idea of going back to school in a little over a month. Summer's always seems to fly by! I have a little boy who is almost 3 and a little girl who will be 1 in October. They have definitely kept my summer busy. My husband and I just got back from a trip to Colorado. The weather was amazing. I wish I could've brought back some cool weather with me!

This will be my 4th year teaching. I graduated from A&M Commerce in May of 2008. So, i 2008 I graduated from college, bought a house, started teaching and had my first child! It was a busy year!

My hope for this year is to encourage each child to learn to love to read. Reading is one of the MOST important things we do in first grade. I have taken several staff development classes to prepare to be the very best educator in your child's life.

I look forward to meeting each and every one of you. Supply drop off will be Thursday night before school start. I would love for you to come by so I can introduce myself to you and your child.
